RAEFORD – Hoke County residents will have local access to the specialty pain management services of the FirstHealth Back & Neck Pain Center with the Oct. 11 opening of a satellite clinic in Raeford.

Located in the FirstCare Specialty Centers building at 4565 Fayetteville Road, Raeford, the clinic will be staffed by two board certified pain specialists and will be open for appointments every Thursday with the potential for additional days as necessary.

According to Robert Oldroyd, M.D., the Hoke County office is being opened to give the providers and residents of Hoke County local access to the pain management services of the FirstHealth Back & Neck Pain program.

“The ability to quickly evaluate patients with pain allows for improved efficiencies in intervention and management,” Dr. Oldroyd says. “Although the satellite clinic in Raeford is not full-service, it will be the first access point to quality pain management.”

The second pain specialist at the Raeford clinic will be David L. Chandler, D.O.

Dr. Oldroyd earned his medical degree from Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School and completed his transitional internship and residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Board of Anesthesiology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He has been with Pinehurst Anesthesia Associates and FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for 13 years.

Dr. Chandler earned his D.O. from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville Mo., and did a transitional internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He completed his residency in anesthesia at the National Capital Consortium in Washington, D.C., where he also completed a fellowship in critical care.

Board certified in both critical care and anesthesia and board eligible in pain medicine, he has been with Pinehurst Anesthesia Associates and FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for three years.

The FirstHealth Back & Neck Pain Center in Hoke County will open Thursday, Oct. 11. To make an appointment with one of the pain specialists there, please call (910) 715-1794.
