FirstHealth Announces New Chief Operating Officer for MRH

Pinehurst – FirstHealth of the Carolinas announced today that Col. Brian T. Canfield will join the organization in September as its chief operating officer for Moore Regional Hospital. In this position, Canfield will report directly to FirstHealth Chief Executive Officer David Kilarski.
Canfield comes to FirstHealth following his retirement this summer from the US Army, where he had served as a Medical Service Corps officer since 1984. Since July 2010, he has been chief executive officer/commanding officer for Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, N.C.
His prior assignments included hospital and health care administrative positions throughout the United States and abroad.

Canfield received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Bemidji State University in Minnesota, a master’s in business administration from Western New England College in Massachusetts and a master’s in health care administration from Baylor University in Texas. He also earned his master’s degree in National Security Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College. He is an Associate in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Canfield and his wife, Kate, will live in Pinehurst.
