Richmond OB/GYN Specialists to Hold Office Hours in Troy

TROY – Montgomery County residents will soon have access to FirstHealth obstetric and gynecological services with the opening of a Troy office of the FirstHealth Richmond Medical Group – Women’s Center.
OB/GYN specialists from the Rockingham clinic will see patients in Suite 202 of the Medical Arts Building at 522 Allen St., Troy, every Thursday beginning July 12.
In addition to basic gynecological services, Mohamed Ibrahim, M.D., and Rasheed Yakubu, M.D., will offer general maternity services, including prenatal and postnatal visits, in the convenience of the new Troy office. Deliveries will be scheduled for FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham, which provides Level I maternity care.
Beth Walker, president of FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, is excited by the prospect of FirstHealth OB/GYN services in Montgomery County. “This is a valuable and much-needed service that obviously is more convenient for patients when it is offered locally,” she says. “With these new weekly clinic hours, local patients will be able to get timely and efficient treatment without the burden and costs of out-of-town travel.”
Dr. Ibrahim earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from the University of Khartoum, Faculty of Medicine, Sudan, where he later specialized in obstetrics and gynecology. After coming to the United States, he completed an OB/GYN residency at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine/St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, N.J.
Dr. Yakubu earned his B.S. degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa and his M.D. from St. Georges University School of Medicine in St. Georges, Grenada. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, N.Y.
Both Dr. Ibrahim is board certified and Dr. Yakubu is board eligible in obstetrics and gynecology.
