Fighting cancer is a long and stressful battle.  The disease challenges patients and patients’ families emotionally, physically, and financially. Whenever someone is put into a situation such as this, it is important to have someone to talk to or a shoulder to lean on. People may empathize, but no one quite understands like someone who has already been through these ups and downs—a survivor.

FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital offers various support groups and counseling, which coincide with the FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital FirstHealth Cancer Services’s program called CARE-Net.

CARE-Net was created in 2001 to serve cancer patients and their families. It was an outgrowth of the Cancer CARE Fund of the Moore Regional Hospital Foundation, which continues to provide financial support. CARE-Net services include:Care-Net is a unique volunteer program that pairs specially trained volunteers, many of whom are cancer survivors, with patients and reaches out to provide support when patients and families need it most. They provide a sympathetic ear, a caring heart or a helping hand as they navigate the health care system.
