ROCKINGHAM – The FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital Foundation will welcome a cancer specialist with the FirstHealth Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center for a special educational program on FirstHealth’s cancer treatment services.

Todd A. Moore, M.D., a medical oncologist, will speak Monday, June 4, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. He will offer an overview of what happens from the time that a patient receives a cancer diagnosis through the treatment period, focusing on the various treatment options that are available through the Cancer Center.

Dr. Moore will highlight breast cancer treatments and services before concluding the program with a question-and-answer session.

Board certified in hematology and medical oncology, Dr. Moore is a member of a medical oncology team that also includes Ellen Willard, M.D.; Robert Pohlmeyer, M.D.; and Charles Kuzma, M.D. All are affiliated with FirstHealth through a partnership with Pinehurst Medical Clinic.

A native of Galveston, Texas, Dr. Moore earned a B.S. degree from Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss., and his M.D. from the University of Mississippi in Jackson. He completed an internship at the University of Texas in Dallas and his residency in internal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

He specialized in hematology/oncology during a three-year fellowship at Brown University in Providence, R.I., and joined Moore Regional’s cancer treatment program in March 2009.

“We are very pleased to welcome a physician of Dr. Moore’s caliber to the Richmond Memorial Hospital campus to talk about the excellent services provided by FirstHealth’s Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center,” says Ed Taylor, who chairs the Board of Trustees of the FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Dr. Moore will not only update us on these services, but he is also prepared to take questions about cancer treatment in general and FirstHealth services in particular. I hope the Richmond County community will take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn more about the cancer services that are available to us through FirstHealth.”

There is no charge to attend Dr. Moore’s program at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital, but reservations are necessary as space is limited. For reservations, please call (910) 417-3701.

FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital is a division of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
