FHC Home Care named one of nation’s top home health providers

PINEHURST – FirstHealth Home Care Services has been named to the 2010 HomeCare Elite, a compilation of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States. FirstHealth offers home health services in Moore, Lee, Montgomery, Hoke, Richmond and Scotland counties.
Home health agencies that are named to the HomeCare Elite list are ranked by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, quality improvement and financial performance. Now in its fifth year, the annual review is the only performance recognition of its kind on the home health industry.
FirstHealth Home Care Services has received the HomeCare Elite recognition for four of the past five years, a record that Director Patty Upham attributes to patient satisfaction and quality of care.
“Our consistently high patient satisfaction scores and this recognition for our positive clinical outcomes are testaments to the entire FirstHealth organization as well as to our excellent staff,” she says.
The HomeCare Elite recognition is presented by Decision Health, which publishes the independent newsletter “Home Health Line,” and OCS HomeCare, the leading provider of home care information. To create the HomeCare Elite list, the two use publicly available data from Home Health Compare, which collects information about the quality of care provided by Medicare-certified home health agencies, and from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Cost Reports.
Agency performance in each of three domains – quality of care, quality improvement and financial performance – is compared against the performance of other organizations in the agency’s state and in the country. The three domains are combined into one overall score, using a weighting methodology that gives the greatest importance to quality of care.
