Turkey Trot runners will be on Pinehurst roadways Nov. 20

PINEHURST – Saturday, Nov. 20, will bring the 30thAnnual Turkey Trot to the village of Pinehurst and surrounding neighborhoods. The 2010 event is expected to attract about 1,000 runners.
The races will begin at 8:30 a.m. and are expected to end around 12:30 p.m. Traffic will be heavy on the roads surrounding the entrance to the FirstHealth Center for Health & Fitness, Highway 211 and the Pinehurst Traffic Circle.
Area motorists are asked to be aware of runners who will leave the parking lot of the Center for Health & Fitness and enter Memorial Drive before heading to Page Road. Crossing Highway 211 at Page Road, they will continue toward the village of Pinehurst, passing Bill Clark Chevrolet and going toward Highway 5 on McCaskill.
Some runners will head toward Donald Ross Drive while others will continue on McKenzie toward Lost Tree. Half-marathoners on that route will head to St. Andrews Drive and go out to the Marina before heading back to the Center for Health & Fitness.
Road Closings/Traffic Changes – Southbound Memorial Drive will be closed at the Page Road intersection from 8:45 a.m. until about 12:30 p.m. Motorists wanting to access FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital should use Highway 211 and enter Memorial Drive to reach the hospital entrance. There will be a runner’s lane from the intersection of Page and Memorial to the intersection of Highway 211 and Page Road.
Police will be controlling traffic at the intersections of Page and Memorial, Highway 211 and Page Road, Highway 5 and McCaskill, and McKenzie and Linden Road.
