ROCKINGHAM – Muhammad Jawad Iqbal, M.D., a nephrologist, has become a member of the full-time active medical staff at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Iqbal, who has had consulting privileges at Richmond Memorial for a number of years, recently opened an office immediately adjacent to the hospital in the FirstHealth Richmond Medical Park office building at 921 S. Long Drive, Suite 203.
He is available for hospital consults and also provides dialysis services through the Davita dialysis center in Hamlet.
“We are pleased that Dr. Iqbal has decided to expand his relationship with FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital by joining our full-time medical staff and opening an office on the hospital campus,” says RMH President John J. Jackson. “Kidney disease is prevalent in this part of North Carolina so we are especially pleased to have a specialist of Dr. Iqbal’s caliber available to treat patients in our community.”
Dr. Iqbal received his medical degree from King Edward Medical College in his native Pakistan and completed his residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Afterward, he completed fellowships in hypertension at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, VA Medical Center in New York; nephrology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky; and critical care at the University of Pittsburgh.
He is board certified in internal medicine, nephrology and critical care medicine.
“Over the years, I have had patients from Richmond County travel to our office in Scotland County and, as a convenience to the patients, decided it would be a good opportunity to open a practice in Rockingham,” Dr. Iqbal says. “I look forward to providing services closer to home for these patients.”
Dr. Iqbal sees patients at his Rockingham office every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To make an appointment, call (910) 417-3890.
