Montgomery Memorial hosts regional trauma committee meeting

| Date Posted: 11/1/2010

TROY – FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital hosted emergency, health care and rescue personnel from throughout the area for the Oct. 14 meeting of the MidCarolina Trauma Regional Advisory Committee (MidCarolina RAC).

The mission of the RAC is to participate in the development of standardized regional trauma care as well as the establishment and maintenance of a coordinated trauma system to promote the best possible trauma care for all residents of the MidCarolina Trauma RAC area.

Working closely with the Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) and the UNC Health Care Trauma Program, the RAC provides regular educational opportunities to its members. For example, many Emergency Department nurses at Montgomery Memorial have obtained their trauma nursing core course certificates through the group.

Montgomery Memorial’s director of nursing, Susan Davey, R.N., represents the hospital on the RAC as a voting member.
