MMH Auxiliary to host 23rd annual Love Light Tree program
| Date Posted: 11/10/2010
TROY – In early December, for the 23rd time, the FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor its Christmas Love Light Tree program, an event that marks the beginning of the hospital’s holiday season.
Scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 6:15 p.m. (a new time) at the hospital’s main entrance, the 2010 Love Light ceremony will continue a long-standing tradition in the hospital community – in more ways than one.
“We don’t look at this as just a fund-raising event,” says Auxiliary liaison Tina Thompson. “We look at it as a chance to come together with old and new friends to celebrate the holiday season.”
Acknowledgements noting each Love Light recognition will be mailed to the person being recognized or to a designee along with an invitation to the special tree-lighting ceremony and reception. Anyone who dedicates a light and those being recognized with a light are invited to attend the program.
A special “tree-lighter,” whose identity is always kept secret until the ceremony, will light the tree. Afterward, refreshments will be served and the FirstHealth Montgomery Choir will present a program of holiday music.
Michelle Yarboro, R.N., directs the FirstHealth Montgomery Choir, and Sandra Davis, R.N., serves as pianist.
The cost of a single Love Light Tree dedication is $5, and proceeds will help fund various Auxiliary projects and events. These programs include the Teddy Bear Affair for area first-graders and a health care scholarship fund.
To reserve a light, call Tina Thompson at (910) 571-5020 by Dec. 3.
