FirstHealth to offer flu shots for seniors

| Date Posted: 11/1/2010

RAEFORD – FirstHealth of the Carolinas will offer flu shots for seniors who attend the Hoke County Senior Day on Wednesday, November 10. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Senior Services office at 423 E. Central Ave., Raeford.

FirstHealth will process original Medicare Part B claims. Participants should bring their Medicare card with an ID that includes an address. For all others, check or cash of $25 will be accepted.

Those who need to file a Medicaid/HMO/Managed Care Plan Participants form should see their doctor for the flu vaccine.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, flu activity in the United States is low now, making this an excellent time to get a flu vaccine. This season, everyone 6 months and older should get vaccinated, even if they had a seasonal or 2009 H1N1 vaccine last season.

The 2010-2011 flu vaccine has been updated to protect against the three flu viruses that the CDC expects will cause the most illness in the United States this season.
