TROY – Student athletes from all Montgomery County middle and high schools will be able to get free sports physicals during an upcoming event sponsored by FirstHealth of the Carolinas.
In addition, the families of student athletes are invited to participate in several free health screenings that will be offered during the same event.
Six primary care providers will provide the sports physicals, which will be offered at the FirstHealth Family Care Center-Troy (beside Standard Drug at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital) Saturday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to noon. Participating providers will be Jennie Carrick, ANP; Robert Thomas, P.A.; Julie Fetterman, P.A.; Dan Matthews, P.A.; and Gina Smith, FNP, all of FirstHealth of the Carolinas; and Veronica Lisenby, FNP.
To participate, a student athlete must present a sports physical form that has been signed by his/her parents. These forms are available from the athletic director/coach at each school or from the FirstHealth Montgomery School Health Centers.
Health screenings that will be available to the families of athletes include blood pressure, glucose, sleep apnea and pulse oximetry. Information on a variety of FirstHealth services – including the Dental Care Centers, FirstQuit, Pulmonary Rehab, Imaging and others – will also be available.
