Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond to Host 39th Wellness Screening Event

| Date Posted: 9/9/2022

ROCKINGHAM –The Annual Wellness Screening Event at Moore Regional Hospital (MRH)- Richmond is a long-established community event aimed at improving the overall health and well-being of residents of Richmond County and surrounding communities.

This year’s event will mark 39 years of providing free and reduced-cost health screenings.

“We are thrilled to once again hold our wellness screening event,” said Christy Land, MSN, R.N., president, southern region and administrator of MRH-Richmond.  “It is more important than ever to manage your lifestyle through healthy choices, and identifying illness early is key in those efforts.”

Last year’s event was cancelled due to COVID-19. “We were disappointed to cancel last year’s event, but felt it was necessary to keep everyone safe as COVID-19 spread was high,” added Land.  “We’re pleased that current trends are such that we can safely hold the event and look so forward to seeing everyone at MRH-Richmond.”

This year’s event will offer screenings from 6 to 9:30 a.m., Sept. 27-Oct. 1 and again from Oct. 3-5.  The screenings include:

  • HCV antibody test - $40
  • Blood Pressure – FREE
  • Body Mass Index - FREE
  • Bone Density - FREE
  • Sleep Assessment – FREE
  • Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) - $10
  • EKG - $10
  • Flu Vaccines - $20
  • A1C/Glycosylated Hemoglobin - $15
  • Wellness Profile - $25
  • Vitamin D - $25
  • Pap Smear - $25

You must be at least 18 years old to receive the screenings.  For best results, blood work should be done while fasting for at least eight hours prior to tests. Cash or check will be accepted. Participants should enter at the front visitor entrance, and registration will take place on the first floor.

All visitors are required to wear a mask, undergo temperature screening and complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire.  Children under 12 years of age are not allowed to enter the hospital.

Results will be made available through FirstHealth MyChart. The MyChart patient portal not only allows access to test results, but it allows FirstHealth patients to communicate safely and securely with their health care providers, manage appointments, refill medications, pay their balances online, review their health history and schedule appointments.

FirstHealth will also offer to link patients with primary care providers in the event they do not have a primary care provider or need someone to review their results.
