Garlick & Murray Family Medicine in Pittsboro to Join FirstHealth of the Carolinas

PITTSBORO— Garlick & Murray Family Medicine in Pittsboro will join FirstHealth of the Carolinas and FirstHealth Physician Group effective April 8, 2022.
Longtime Chatham County family medicine physician William Garlick, M.D., retired from seeing patients in December 2021. The practice is currently staffed by Annette Willett, FNP and Tracey Phillips, FNP, and they will continue to care for patients in the Pittsboro clinic.
As FirstHealth recruits for a new physician to join the practice with Willett and Phillips, James Liffrig, M.D. will serve as the supervising physician. Dr. Liffrig is a family medicine physician who currently serves as the medical director for FirstHealth Convenient Care, which is comprised of 10 convenient care clinics located in Lee, Moore, Hoke, Richmond, Montgomery and Randolph counties. Dr. Liffrig previously served as a physician with FirstHealth Family Medicine-Seven Lakes.
The office will close from April 8 through April 24 for staff training. The office will reopen on Monday, April 25 as FirstHealth Family Medicine-Chatham. Office hours and phone numbers will remain the same.
The practice will transition to FirstHealth’s Epic electronic health record, providing patients with access to an online patient portal through FirstHealth MyChart. MyChart allows patients the opportunity to manage appointments, review test results, communicate with their provider and even refill a prescription all from the convenience of a phone, tablet or computer.
According to Dan Barnes, D.O., president of FirstHealth Physician Group, the family medicine practice is a welcome addition to the FirstHealth network. “The staff at Garlick & Murray Family Medicine have been devoted to serving the health care needs of the Pittsboro community for a number of years,” said Dr. Barnes. “We look forward to this partnership to continue to provide quality health care to the patients they serve.”
