ROCKINGHAM—As a result of ongoing concerns over COVID-19 and the highly contagious delta variant, FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital (MRH)-Richmond has decided to cancel the Annual Wellness Screening Event that was scheduled to begin on Sept. 28.
“Our hospital and the community continue to see an alarming number of COVID-19 cases,” said John Jackson, president of the Southern region and administrator of MRH-Richmond. “It’s in the best interest of everyone’s safety to cancel the Wellness Screening Event this year. Additionally, our hospital is at serious levels of emergency room and COVID-19 patients, and staff need to be available in the hospital to provide care for our patients.”
This year would have been the hospital’s 39th annual Wellness Screening Event.
“We look forward to restoring this annual event next year as it’s an opportunity to promote and improve the overall health and wellbeing of the residents in Richmond county and surrounding areas,” Jackson added. “We look forward to hosting the wellness screening event yearly, and we’re disappointed that we are not able to do so this year.”
FirstHealth reminds the community that getting a COVID-19 vaccine is one of the most important tools we have for ending the pandemic and returning to normal. If you are not vaccinated, call (910) 715-SHOT for help scheduling a vaccine appointment.
