FirstHealth Opens Third Convenient Care Clinic in Lee County
| Date Posted: 9/12/2021
SANFORD – FirstHealth of the Carolinas is pleased to announce the opening of its 10th convenient care location and third location in Lee County.
The new clinic, located at 3110 S. Horner Blvd. in Sanford, began accepting walk-in patients Monday, Sept. 13. The hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
“We are thrilled to further serve the Lee County community with a third convenient care clinic,” said Dan Barnes, D.O., president of FirstHealth Physician Group. “Our Tramway and Beechtree Drive locations in Sanford have been well received, and we believe this new location will greatly benefit residents seeking care in a busy area of the county.”
The Horner Boulevard Convenient Care clinic will serve adults and children with non-emergency medical needs, such as upper respiratory infection, strep, mild asthma, flu and urinary tract infection, as well as minor injuries including cuts, burns and broken bones that have not broken the skin.
Imaging services, immunizations and sports physicals will also be among the services offered by nationally certified physician assistants Nicole Pilkenton and Eric Schmidt.
Pilkenton earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Kentucky. Prior to joining FirstHealth Convenient Care, she worked in emergency medicine.
Schmidt, who has experience working in urgent, emergency and primary medicine, earned a bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Oklahoma and served as a physician assistant in the United States Army from 1994 to 1999.
FirstHealth Convenient Care serves numerous communities throughout the state, including Moore, Richmond, Hoke, Lee and Randolph counties. James Liffrig, M.D., medical director of FirstHealth Convenient Care, said continuing to provide residents with easy access to medical services is a top priority.
“As areas like Sanford continue to expand and grow, it is important that communities have an option for medical services that lie between the needs of a true emergency and the routine and preventative care of a primary care provider,” Dr. Liffrig said. “FirstHealth Convenient Care is happy to continue to offer unscheduled urgent care throughout North Carolina.”
The FirstHealth Convenient Care clinic on Horner Blvd. in Sanford is next to Jersey Mike's. For more information, call (919) 842-3570 or visit www.firsthealthconvenientcare.org.
