| Date Posted: 7/9/2021

PINEHURST, NC – The Wound Care & Hyperbarics program at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital (MRH) and Moore Regional Hospital - Hoke Campus has received the Center of Distinction award for clinical excellence in patient satisfaction and wound healing rates.

The Center of Distinction award is presented by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services, and goes to wound care programs that achieve outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, maintain patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and have a minimum wound healing rate of 92 percent within 28 median days to heal.

FirstHealth Chief Medical Officer Jenifir Bruno, M.D., said the award reflected FirstHealth’s core purpose – to care for people.

“We aim to offer the best care possible, whether patients come to FirstHealth for the flu or a chronic wound,” Dr. Bruno said. “The Center of Distinction award shows that dedication to patient satisfaction and that staff will do everything in their power to help people heal.”

FirstHealth Wound Care & Hyperbarics is a member of the Healogics network of more than 600 Wound Care Centers® and offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time.

Advanced wound care modalities offered at MRH include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. FirstHealth Wound Care & Hyperbarics also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.

“Our clinical team is outstanding,” said David Strom, M.D., orthopaedic surgeon and director of FirstHealth Wound Care & Hyperbarics. “They are dedicated to serving our patients and providing the highest level of care that is necessary to heal those suffering from chronic wounds.”

Susan Beaty, R.N., president of the Eastern region and administrator of MRH – Hoke, said the award reflects a deep commitment to providing high-quality wound care.

“We aim to offer the best care possible, whether patients come to FirstHealth for the flu or a chronic wound,” Beaty said. “The Center of Distinction award shows the dedication our staff has to patient health and healing throughout the region.”
