Family Nurse Practitioner Jennifer Berry Joins Southern Pines Women’s Health Center

PINEHURST, N.C. -- A new family nurse practitioner has joined the women and children’s team at Southern Pines Women’s Health Center, a FirstHealth clinic. Jennifer Berry, FNP, will see patients in Moore County and work closely with John Byron, M.D., OB/GYN.
Berry said she is thrilled to join the team and looks forward to caring for patients. “My first exposure to SPWHC was as a patient. I was very impressed by the exceptional care and attention to detail I received from each provider and the staff,” Berry said.
“Between my personal experience and my passion for women’s health, the opportunity to join this practice excited me. I look forward to combining my Spanish background and language skills with my passion for women’s health in serving this community.”
Berry earned her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner in 2014 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also earned a bachelor of science in nursing from UNC and a bachelor of arts in Spanish from Davidson College. Berry said her parents inspired her to pursue a career in medicine.
“I grew up in a family of two physicians, an OB/GYN and an internal medicine doctor, who were from Cuba and Puerto Rico,” Berry said. “My parents overcame tremendous obstacles to fulfill their dreams, and their drive to succeed and dedication to patients inspired me. After starting my career as an emergency and intensive care unit nurse, I was inspired to obtain my master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner.”
Outside of caring for patients, Berry also serves as a member of FirstHealth’s Inclusion Committee.
When she’s not working, Berry plays competitive tennis, cooks, rides her bike and practices mixed martial arts. She also enjoys spending time outside with her husband and two young children.
