Interventional Pulmonologist With FirstHealth Specialty Services and Pinehurst Medical Clinic Now Seeing Patients in Lee County

SANFORD, N.C. - Fellowship-trained interventional pulmonologist Adam Belanger, M.D., with FirstHealth Specialty Services and Pinehurst Medical Clinic is now seeing patients at 1411 Greenway Court in Sanford.
Originally from Vermont, Dr. Belanger earned his undergraduate degree from Boston University and attended medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He completed an internal medicine residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Recently at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Belanger completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine as well as additional training in interventional pulmonology.
While he treats all lung diseases, Dr. Belanger subspecializes in interventional pulmonology or the treatment of lung disease with procedures. Dr. Belanger recently became the first physician in the Sandhills region to perform Targeted Lung Denervation (TLD), an investigational treatment option for patients suffering from frequent COPD flare-ups, or lung attacks at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
“Many of our COPD patients experience exacerbations that cannot be controlled with their inhaler medications,” said Dr. Belanger. “As a pulmonary community, we need to embrace the development of interventional therapies that may stabilize COPD patients and help reduce their risk of exacerbation.”
“Based on the existing evidence, we are enthusiastic about the potential of TLD to meet a true unmet medical need and are proud that Moore Regional has treated our first patient in the AIRFLOW-3 Clinical Trial,” added Dr. Belanger.
Dr. Belanger is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, pulmonary and critical care medicine and also holds certification by the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.
Dr. Belanger works alongside fellow interventional pulmonologist Michael Pritchett, D.O., MPH, at FirstHealth Specialty Services and Pinehurst Medical Clinic in Pinehurst.
