FirstHealth and Pinehurst Surgical OB/GYN Taylor McCauley Now Seeing Patients in Lee County

SANFORD, N.C. -- FirstHealth of the Carolinas and Pinehurst Surgical Clinic are pleased to announce that Taylor McCauley, M.D., will now see OB/GYN patients four days a week in Lee County.
McCauley, who earned her Doctor of Medicine at East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine in 2013, has worked for Pinehurst Surgical Clinic since 2018. McCauley said she loved science from an early age and that eventually led her to medicine.
“I had many amazing mentors along the way, one of which was my own pediatrician. It was seeing her firsthand and her positive impact on me as a patient and our community that inspired me to make medicine my career,” she said.
At ECU, McCauley specialized in comprehensive women’s care with a special interest in adolescent and teen gynecology, contraception and robotic surgery.
“One of my favorite things about being an OB/GYN is the ability to take care of the patient through every stage of life. Adolescents and teenagers are especially vulnerable and it’s vital to educate them about their own bodies and health during this critical period,” she said. “The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends that adolescents have their first reproductive health visit between 13 and 15, which usually encompasses a discussion on preventive health services as well as establishing a patient-doctor relationship.”
Prior to attending East Carolina for medical school, McCauley earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Campbell University. She completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. When she’s not caring for women, McCauley enjoys swimming, running, CrossFit and cooking.
FirstHealth OB/GYN will relocate to FirstHealth Lee Campus on June 28, 2021.
