FirstHealth Physician Assistant Transitions to Family Medicine

PINEHURST, N.C. – Melissa Aubin, PA-C, joins FirstHealth Family Medicine – Pinehurst after serving patients for three years at FirstHealth Convenient Care - Tramway location in Sanford.
Aubin received her PA-C training from SUNY Upstate Medical University and worked as a primary care provider in upstate New York before moving to North Carolina in 2018. She said she enjoyed getting to know her patients on a deeper level and watching families grow.
Aubin embraced the 12-hour shifts and excitement of convenient care when she moved but said she is excited to return to family medicine.
“I consistently get asked at least a dozen times a week if I do primary care because patients want me to be their ‘regular provider,’” she said. “I suppose after hearing that over and over again, I decided to take the hint and return to what I do best.”
Prior to entering health care, Aubin was a trained chef and violinist. She first worked as an emergency medical technician after receiving her undergraduate degree and said she fell in love with medicine.
“It really bothered me when I dropped patients off at the hospital and never knew what happened to them,” she said. “I became a PA so I could have that continuity of care.”
In her spare time, she enjoys teaching group exercise classes at FirstHealth Fitness in Pinehurst and playing violin with the Moore Philharmonic Orchestra. Prior to COVID-19, she taught cooking classes for fellow FirstHealth Physician Group providers and their families. She also enjoys spending time with her fiancé and their 8-month-old daughter.
