Asheboro, N.C. – FirstHealth Orthopaedics is bringing orthopaedics services to Asheboro thanks to the addition of Pinehurst Surgical Clinic’s Matthew Cuthrell, PA-C.
The new service will provide residents of Randolph County access to extensive expertise in orthopaedics. Cuthrell will offer a complete range of treatments for nearly every orthopaedic condition, including sports injuries; joint disorders of the knee, hip and shoulder; arthritis; neck, spine and back injuries and disorders; osteoporosis; and hand and foot disorders.
Cuthrell joins FirstHealth and Pinehurst Surgical Clinic after a 20-year career in the military in which he deployed 11 times to combat zones around the world. Cuthrell’s most recent assignment was to the Joint Medical Augmentation Unit on Fort Bragg.
Cuthrell earned his master of physician assistant studies at the University of Nebraska. “I knew I wanted to go into medicine after my first combat deployment in 2005,” he said. “I witnessed the best military providers taking care of those that sacrifice most for our nation and I wanted to be a part of serving those individuals.”
Cuthrell said working in orthopaedics is especially rewarding.
“We get to watch patients overcome obstacles, recover from injuries and thrive again in everyday life. It’s a pleasure to be part of those journeys,” he said.
Outside of work, Cuthrell said he and his wife stay very busy.
“We are blessed with four busy boys, so our days are filled with extracurricular activities, sports and family time,” he said. “I enjoy traveling, camping, hiking and working out in our garage gym with our kids. Someday I would love to return to skydiving.”
Cuthrell began seeing patients in Asheboro January 8, 2021. Call (336) 308-0399 to schedule an appointment.
