FirstHealth Opens Lake Tillery Convenient Care Clinic

| Date Posted: 8/10/2020

FirstHealth of the Carolinas is pleased to announce the opening of its eighth convenient care location. The Lake Tillery clinic began accepting walk-in patients on Monday, August 10 and is located at 8004 NC-73 in Mt. Gilead.

The hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.

“We are extremely excited to open the Lake Tillery convenient care clinic,” said Dan Barnes, D.O., president of FirstHealth Physician Group.

“Our clinics located across the FirstHealth service area have been extremely well received, and we believe that this new location will not only be a great benefit for residents and visitors in Mt. Gilead and Lake Tillery, but for all Montgomery County residents.”

Allison Little, PA-C

Kondie Lykins, PA-C

The Lake Tillery Convenient Care clinic will serve adults and children with non-emergency medical needs including such ailments as upper respiratory infection, strep, mild asthma, flu and urinary tract infection as well as minor injuries such as cuts, burns and broken bones that have not broken the skin.

Imaging services, immunizations and sports physicals will also be among the various services offered by certified physician assistants Allison Little and Kondie Lykins.

Little, who has experience working in emergency medicine, primary care and pediatrics, earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from Western Kentucky and a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Kentucky.

Lykins earned a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering technology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.  Lykins, who is fluent in Spanish, has experience in urgent care and pain management.

James Liffrig, M.D., is medical director of the FirstHealth Convenient Care program, which also serves patients in communities throughout Moore, Richmond, Hoke, Lee and Randolph counties.

“The FirstHealth Convenient Care offices provide the communities they serve with easy access to services that fall between the needs of a true emergency – one that requires an emergency room visit – and the preventive care of a primary care provider,” Dr. Liffrig said.

“With the additional availability of the ancillary services of imaging and lab, our Convenient Care patients have a ‘one-stop option’ for care provided by a professional medical staff that specializes in unscheduled urgent care.”

The FirstHealth Convenient Care Clinic in Mt. Gilead is located next to the Swift Island Lake Tillery Boat Access.  For more information, call (910) 469-4100 or visit
