FirstHealth On the Go Makes Doctors Available Anytime, Anywhere

| Date Posted: 12/10/2019

Seeing a doctor just got a little bit easier thanks to a new offering from FirstHealth of the Carolinas.

FirstHealth On the Go, through a partnership with Teladoc, provides people in the Sandhills virtual access to board-certified doctors 24 hours a day through the convenience of a phone, tablet or computer.

Dr. Daniel Barnes, president of FirstHealth Physician Group, said On the Go will help fill gaps in coverage for patients who might not be able to make it to their primary care physician.

“I’m excited to see how FirstHealth On the Go will improve the experience for people who need medical care,” he said. “We all know that cold or flu symptoms don’t always pop up during the business day, so we are thrilled that we can meet our patients’ needs whenever they arise.”

FirstHealth On the Go will be available to every member of the family, from children to adults, and doctors will be able to send necessary prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice.

Along with FirstHealth’s large network of primary care practices and convenient care locations, FirstHealth On the Go further expands access to key healthcare services.

Whether it’s in the middle of the night or over the weekend, On the Go is available when patients need it, and the virtual platform helps eliminate the burden of travel.

“The idea of a virtual visit might sound intimidating at first but think of it this way – if you FaceTime with friends or family, you can use FirstHealth On the Go,” Barnes said. “Your visit will likely be over in a matter of minutes, and you can be on your way to feeling better without leaving your home.”

On the Go physicians will treat many common medical conditions, including cold and flu symptoms, allergies, pink eye, ear infection, respiratory infection, sinus problems, skin problems and other non-emergency medical conditions. Patients will also have the ability to share notes from their virtual visit with a primary care physician.

The cost of a visit will depend on your health plan. To get started, download the app on the Google Play or Apple iTunes store or visit the On the Go website to register.
