FirstHealth to Conduct Community Health Needs Assessment Phone Survey

| Date Posted: 9/9/2018

PINEHURST – FirstHealth of the Carolinas will be conducting the 2018 Community Health Needs Assessment in Moore, Richmond, Hoke, Montgomery and Lee counties.

The assessment, which takes place every few years, is a comprehensive collection and analysis of data regarding health issues, available medical services in our region and opportunities for action in our communities.

These surveys are conducted via random-digit dial phone calls with questions that mirror the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey at the state and national levels. FirstHealth contracts with Professional Research Consultants (PRC) for this survey, hence it is referred to as the PRC survey.

A primary goal of the Community Health Needs Assessment is to help increase understanding of our community’s current health both through specific health indicators and community input regarding issues and areas of concern.

The assessment is a collaboration between FirstHealth of the Carolinas and local health departments.

In order to prepare residents for potential calls, FirstHealth is notifying residents of the upcoming survey that will begin on August 20. At the beginning of the call, a surveyor will notify participants that FirstHealth of the Carolinas has asked PRC to conduct a survey about “things people do that may affect their health.”

Callers will be asked for age, demographic information and household income information, but will not be required to provide their names.

Health categories surveyed include:

  • Chronic disease;
  • Primary care;
  • Child health;
  • Preventive health behaviors;
  • Behavioral health; and
  • Communicable diseases.

Should you have any concern about the survey or phone call received, please contact FirstHealth Community Health Services toll-free at (888) 534-5333.
