RAEFORD – The Wound Care & Hyperbarics program at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Hoke Campus has received a national award for continued excellence in wound healing.
The Robert A. Warriner III Center of Excellence award goes to wound care centers in the Healogics network that have met the highest level of quality standards for a minimum of two consecutive years. The program at MRH-Hoke Campus has achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of a least 91 percent in fewer than 31 media days, along with several other quality standards, for two years in a row.
Healogics Inc. is the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. Of its nearly 800 wound care centers, 334 were eligible for and 169 received the 2016 Center of Excellence award. This year, the Wound Care Center at the MRH-Hoke Campus also celebrates three years of providing care to the community.
“The extraordinary care provided to patients in our Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center is life-changing and, at times, even lifesaving,” says Jeffrey Gibbons, M.D., associate medical director of the Wound Care & Hyperbarics program. “Our wound care team is proud to serve those patients in Hoke County and the surrounding areas. Their specialized training and dedication helps patients restore their health and achieve faster healing rates.”
FirstHealth Wound Care & Hyperbarics offers specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Treatments include negative pressure wound therapy, debridement, cellular-based issue or skin substitute application, offloading or total contact casts, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
“The Wound Care & Hyperbarics program at Moore Regional-Hoke Campus is critical for patients and their families in this area,” says the hospital’s president, Susan Beaty, R.N. “They do not have to travel far distances to receive award-winning wound care.”
