FirstHealth Physician Assistant Enjoys the Variety of Family Care

ROCKINGHAM – Brianne Evans, PA-C, had her eye on a career in eye care until a shadowing experience in an optometry office convinced her that she was actually interested in something more general.

Additional experiences introduced her to cardiac medicine, orthopaedics, pediatrics and other specialties, but a rotation in a family medicine office helped her make her final decision.

“You see a little of everything in family medicine,” Evans says. “I also really like the preventive element of family care.”

Evans says she enjoys the generational aspect of family medicine, of being able to care for entire families and getting to know every member of those families.

“It’s nice to hear from families who are doing well,” she says.

A graduate of the Physician Assistant Program at Methodist University in Fayetteville, Evans recently joined Richmond Family Medicine in Rockingham as a certified physician assistant. In the FirstHealth office at 921 Long Drive, she joins a medical team that also includes Emily N. Phillips, PA-C; Gleybis Sanchez Lobaina, M.D.; and David Emmons, FNP.

Evans is a longtime resident of Cameron in Moore County, where she grew up, and a graduate of Union Pines High School. She received a B.S. degree in biology from Methodist University before earning her Masters in Medical Science there in 2014.

She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Sandhills Pediatrics while in high school and college and was a physician assistant in a rural primary care office before joining FirstHealth.

She and husband Jeremy, who works in the electrical field, have a 10-month-old son, Conner.

Evans says she was attracted to FirstHealth because of its known level of quality and compassion.

“I’m very excited about joining FirstHealth” she says. “I’ve been a FirstHealth patient and felt they thought it was important to put my best interests first. I hope to convey that same importance and quality of care to my own patients.”

FirstHealth Family Medicine, 921 Long Drive, Rockingham, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday. To make an appointment with Brianne Evans, PA-C, or one of the other providers, call (910) 417-3850.
