TROY – Renee Dunlap has spent the past two years as the group exercise instructor at FirstHealth Fitness-Troy.
On Sept. 29, she became manager of the facility, replacing the retiring Bob Nelson.
“I believe I have the passion to create an atmosphere that invites fun, fitness and health to the center, as well as encouraging membership and growth within the fitness industry of the company,” Dunlap says.
Dunlap earned a B.S. degree in exercise and sports medicine from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she served a two-year internship in the university's athletic training room.
While working part time with the group exercise program at FirstHealth Fitness-Troy, she was employed full time as office manager at Montgomery Motors Body Shop. She was previously employed as store manager of Vcomm Wireless in Biscoe.
In addition to being certified in CPR, Dunlap is also certified by Interactive Fitness Trainers of America (IFTA).
“I think we are as excited about having Renee in the manager's position at FirstHealth Fitness-Troy as she is in having the job,” says John Caliri, director of FirstHealth Fitness-Troy. “With her educational background in exercise and sports medicine, she is a great addition to our medical fitness team. Since she has taught group exercise classes at the center for the past couple of years, she is already a familiar face, but this new job will give her the opportunity to help grow the Troy program and increase the number of fitness opportunities for the Troy community.”
FirstHealth Fitness-Troy is located at 524 Wood St., Troy, near FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital. For more information on membership or programming, call (910) 571-5480 or visit www.firsthealth.org/fitness/troy.
