PINEHURST – Aches and pains are an unavoidable side effect of aging, but that doesn’t mean you have to live with the pain.
Attendees at “Staying in Motion” on Thursday, Oct. 9, the second program in the Moore Education Series, will learn about resources available at FirstHealth, and the best ways to stay in motion as they age. Sponsored by the Moore Regional Hospital Auxiliary, the series consists of three different programs over three consecutive months and features a moderator-led panel discussion.
Each program will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Shadowlawn Room of the Clara McLean House at 20 FirstVillage Drive, Pinehurst.
As one of the panelists in the October program, David J. Casey, M.D., a surgeon with FirstHealth Orthopaedics, will discuss innovative treatment opportunities available at FirstHealth.
“I believe we all need to learn to outsmart the decades,” he says. “You can’t change your genetics, but you can learn to optimize your function and quality of life with appropriate arthritis treatments.”
Panelist Jason E. Guevara, M.D., also a surgeon with FirstHealth Orthopaedics, agrees.
“Why live in pain?” he says. “We can help you find the best resources to help you get rid of arthritis.”
In addition to Dr. Casey and Dr. Guevara, panel participants in the “Staying in Motion” program will include John R. Moore, M.D., and Glen D. Subin, M.D., both surgeons with FirstHealth Orthopaedics; Jill Botnick, director of FirstHealth Moore Regional’s Outpatient and Regional Rehab programs; and Andrea Burns, PA-C, with FirstHealth Back & Neck Pain.
Pam Hudson, senior development officer for The Foundation of FirstHealth, will serve as moderator.
The final program in the Moore Education Series is planned for Nov. 13 and will focus on “Healthy Aging.”
The Moore Education Series is free and open to both men and women. For more information or to register, call (800) 213-3284 or visit www.firsthealth.org.
