Setting Nurses Up for Success
Whether you are an experienced nurse or it's your first day, we want you to be comfortable in your new environment. At FirstHealth, our goal is to provide expert care for our patients and a healthy and safe work environment for our staff. For new graduate nurses, we create opportunities for continual growth as they begin their nursing careers. The Nurse Residency Program is one of those opportunities: a one-year program that prepares each new graduate for their role as a nurse.
Nursing Orientation
Our comprehensive and individualized nursing orientation program is designed to assist you settle into your new role.
R.N. Residency
New nurses who are fresh out of nursing school are enrolled in FirstHealth’s R.N. Residency program upon hire. The R.N. Residency program provides an opportunity for new nurse graduates to be supported and integrated into the hospital culture as they transition from student to registered nurse. Through formal and clinical education, the program focuses on strengthening proficiency and ensuring the nurse’s role in patient safety and outcomes. All new graduate nurses at FirstHealth must participate in the nurse residency program. The program is 12 months in length and has two cycles: July and February.
Professional Development
We want you to reach your full potential as a nurse and we’re eager to support you on your journey. 57% of FirstHealth nurses have obtained their Bachelors of Nursing degree. Our Clinical Practice and Professional Development department is available to mentor and guides you through the process of earning your BSN.
Clinical Ladder
We believe that registered nurses should be recognized for demonstrated advanced nursing knowledge and clinical expertise that benefit patients, families, community and peers. The Clinical Ladder RN Professional Development Program provides the opportunity for professional growth and development for Registered Nurses who provide direct patient care.

Scholarship Opportunities
- Reid BSN Scholarship Program: The Foundation of FirstHealth has scholarship opportunities for FirstHealth nurses looking to further their education and receive their BSN.
- MSN/DNP Nursing Leadership Scholarship Program: The Foundation of FirstHealth has developed a scholarship program to assist in FirstHealth Nurse Leaders seeking their Master of Science or Doctorate degree in nursing.
Continuing Competencies
FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Clinical Practice Department is an approved provider of Continuing Nursing Education through the North Carolina Nurses Association. Our classes can help you meet your requirements for the NC Board of Nursing.
