Lois and Don Wallace

Whether sharing his passion for model trains with his wife, Lois, or creating a new model for patients and their families to select skilled nursing and home health facilities through the “Nursing Home Quality Initiative” he helped implement, Dr. Donald Wallace has gained a solid reputation for his dedication to detail.

A tireless advocate for seniors, Dr. Wallace served as a founding board president of the

Medical Review of North Carolina, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that Medicare patients receive the best possible care. Now retired, he continues to serve the medical community as chair of the Foundation of First Health’s Retired Physicians Network.

After more than 50 years of marriage, the Wallaces are finally able to spend more time together, pursuing old interests and developing new ones, and sharing their love for model trains with their children and grandchildren.

“The hours we spend building our model train garden are very rewarding. But the time we invest on our health care is truly inspirational.”
