Dr. Jenifir Bruno is a hospitalist, a very good one. She constantly works to make the high quality of patient care at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital even better. Access to care is a critical to this quality. When Dr. Bruno took part in the inaugural FirstHealth Physician Leadership Program, her training led her to a practical idea for providing low-income patients from out of town with rides to the hospital. Good for the patient. Good for quality care. And good for the bottom line. This is physician enhancement at its best. The future of quality care and innovation at FirstHealth of the Carolinas depends on the quality of our physicians and their leaderships in piloting FirstHealth through the clinical and technology changes, management issues, regulatory challenges and work-life demands that lie ahead. But while the need is clear, the fight to recruit and keep the best physicians grows increasingly fierce. This is what makes the physician enhancement programs so critical.
Physicians are expected to increase their skills and knowledge continually, to epitomize service excellence, and to lead complex, multidisciplinary teams that do the same. Traditional medical training does not teach the leadership and personal management skills physicians need to stay on the cutting edge of today's demanding health care environment.
The Foundation of FirstHealth invests in equipping our physicians to be leaders on the forefront of health care – while enhancing work-life balance, career satisfaction, clinical performance, and personal health and wellness.
