Fulfilling the Vision that Began in 1929
The Foundation of FirstHealth reflects the innovative thinking and generous community support that have always been part of “The Sandhills Way.” Here, we take care of each other.
Our legacy began on a bitterly cold day, March 19, 1929. Trustees, supporters and friends gathered for the dedication of Moore County Hospital. Among the items placed in the Cornerstone was a message: “This hospital is built by all people of Moore County, to serve all the people of Moore County, and it is here and now dedicated to the county and its citizens forever and ever. We bid it Godspeed on its errand of mercy into the future.”
The hospital opened its doors eight months later on Thanksgiving Day with 33 beds, a staff of 27 people and a dream for the future – where innovative thinking and generous community support, once planted, would continue to flourish and bloom. That dream has been fulfilled year after year. Today, The Foundation is extending this vibrant legacy with the help of people like you.
