Stephanie Kirby, M.D., board-certified family medicine physician, treats patients at FirstHealth Family Medicine-Raeford, located at 313 Teal Drive.
With a passion for treating patients of all ages and a deep commitment to building long-term relationships, Dr. Kirby brings a patient-centered approach to care that aligns with FirstHealth’s core purpose To Care for People and provide high-quality, compassionate health care. Dr. Kirby spent her grade school years in Maryland before her family moved to West Virginia. She knew from an early age that medicine was her calling.
“I was always fascinated by anything related to medicine, and I had a natural ability to listen and help others feel better,” she shared.
During medical school at West Virginia University, her passion for family medicine became clear. “I wanted to be able to care for newborns, the elderly and everyone in between. Family medicine allows me to do just that.”
Dr. Kirby’s medical career has been shaped by both military and civilian experience. After completing residency at Dewitt Hospital in Fort Belvoir, Va., she was later stationed at Fort Bragg where she worked at Clark Health Clinic and in the Medical Evaluations Board Department. She later transitioned to telemedicine, providing behavioral health services. She most recently worked at Carelon Health before joining FirstHealth.
“I have always heard great things about FirstHealth and how well they treat their employees,” Dr. Kirby said. “When I saw the opportunity to practice outpatient family medicine here, it seemed like the perfect fit.”
A strong advocate for preventive care and chronic disease management, Dr. Kirby believes in a shared decision-making model, ensuring patients have the knowledge and support to take control of their health. “I follow established clinical guidelines and explain options to my patients so they can make informed decisions,” she explained. “I believe in treating the whole person—considering behavioral and social factors in addition to physical health.”
Beyond medicine, Dr. Kirby enjoys reading, spending time with family and exploring the outdoors.
