Sivakumar Ardhanari, M.D. is a cardiologist who also serves at the medical director of cardiac imaging at FirstHealth.
In his role as medical director, Ardhanari works closely with other members of FirstHealth’s heart team to ensure each patient gets individualized care best designed for them.
Dr. Ardhanari earned his medical degree from Coimbatore Medical College in India and completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Missouri – Colombia. He is also board certified in cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular magnetic resonance and cardiovascular computed tomography.
“Cardiac imaging plays a central and increasingly transformative role in the care journey for patients with cardiovascular disease, and recent advances have taken cardiac imaging from a diagnostic tool to a strategic guide for personalized treatment and long-term care management,” Ardhanari said.
Dr. Ardhanari said he was drawn to medicine from a young age and saw it “as a challenge worth taking on.” Ardhanari says that imaging allows providers and care teams to detect diseases before symptoms even appear, enabling earlier intervention and primary prevention.
Imaging allows Dr. Ardhanari to understand the biology and progression of cardiovascular diseases and, in some cases, even predict future cardiac events.
Outside of work, Ardhanari said he enjoys playing tennis, photography, traveling and spending quality time with his wife, two daughters and his family’s close friends.
