Martina Monroe, M.D., treats patients at FirstHealth Family Medicine - Raeford.
Monroe joins FirstHealth after previously serving patients at the Fayetteville Department of Veteran Affairs. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Drexel University School of Medicine and has more than two decades of primary care experience.
“I get the greatest reward from working in the primary care setting by giving my patients an opportunity to take control of their physical and mental health by teaching preventive medicine and good health practices,” Monroe said. “I want to see people win at life and win by making better choices. Good health is one of the best gifts imaginable.”
Monroe said she was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by her mother, who worked in a hospital laboratory.
“All of the microscopes, test tubes, machines and white coats sparked my love for science,” she said. “It also helped coming from a very loving and affectionate family who believe in helping others and serving. Medicine seemed like the perfect fit at the age of 13 and now it’s a dream come true.”
Outside of work, Monroe enjoys event planning, decorating, visiting art museums and watching the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill football and basketball teams. She also enjoys spending time with her family, dog and attending church.
