Katie Weinel, M.D., treats patients at FirstHealth Behavioral Services.
Weinel is a North Carolina native who has previously treated patients at Kaiser Permanente in San Jose, California. Weinel graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2017 and completed her residency in adult psychiatry and her fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at UNC Hospitals. She is double board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
“I firmly believe my role as a psychiatrist should be focused on carefully listening to patients’ stories, hearing each person’s unique perspective and collaborating to set treatment goals together,” Weinel said. “It takes time to thoughtfully understand the needs of patients, their families and other support network members. I look forward to building relationships with my patients and their families and enabling them to discover their own strengths and achieve their personal goals.”
Weinel has experience treating mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, autism spectrum disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and more.
Outside of work, Weinel said she loves spending time outdoors, kayaking, taking long walks with her dog and enjoying quality time with her family.
