FirstHealth of the Carolinas is pleased to announce the addition of Justin Richardson, N.P., to its team of dedicated pain management specialists. With a passion for patient-centered care, Richardson will serve patients at our FirstHealth Interventional Pain Medicine clinic in Troy.

Richardson brings a wealth of knowledge and over a decade of health care experience to his new role. Starting his nursing education locally at Sandhills Community College, he then completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and his Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Before joining FirstHealth, he served as a family nurse practitioner at Lincoln Community Health Center in Durham, providing accessible health care services to the medically underserved.

At FirstHealth, Richardson will help to manage chronic and acute health care needs using a wide range of pain relief options, including the newest and most advanced treatments.

The interventional pain team treats a wide variety of conditions, from chronic back and neck pain to neuropathic pain, migraines and sports injuries.

“Pain management can sometimes be seen as an afterthought, but it’s such a vital part of helping patients truly feel better,” said Richardson. “Chronic pain affects numerous areas of life, and the chance to be a part of such a great team that strives to help people find relief and reclaim their daily routines is incredibly meaningful and exciting to me.”

Originally from Moore County, he was drawn to his new role by its professional focus and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, all while being close to his family and friends.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and his three-year-old son, is an avid sports fan and loves to travel.

“Coming back to FirstHealth feels very full circle,” Richardson shared. “This is where I started my education in nursing, and it’s an honor to now give back to the same community that inspired me to pursue a career in health care.”

Dr. Richardson is a top-notch doctor. He came in there and was very open with me and asked me how I was feeling in my overall health, like per se my mental health. How is this taking a toll on me that way? And he was very nice. The staff was nice. The office was clean. And that's, I tell everybody that I'm going to the pain clinic and I found the right one. So that's it. Thank you.

The gal at the front desk was great. She was very friendly and was very helpful. The nurse that took me to the woman listened to everything I said and not in a hurry at all. The provider was great and listened. All were very friendly.
