Joseph Watts has more than 14 years of experience working with the most critically ill patients in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. During his time in the Cardiac ICU, he worked in a variety of leadership roles cultivating his cardiology intensive care knowledge. Of all the leadership roles Mr. Watts held, serving as a preceptor was the highlight of his ICU time.
As a preceptor, Mr. Watts trained new registered nurses for at least 60 days, ensuring the new nurses’ preparation for independence as a nurse. Mr. Watts enjoys challenges and chose to advance his education by earning his Master of Science in Nursing while still working full time in the Cardiac ICU. Widely recognized for his critical thinking, knowledge and skill in the Cardiac ICU, Mr. Watts also garnered several nominations from patients and co-workers applauding him for his kindness, compassion and willingness to listen.
Mr. Watts, a Moore County native, has been married to his wife for more than 13 years. They have two children and enjoy family trips to the beach. When not at work, Mr. Watts follows his two favorite teams-the Panthers and the Tar Heels.
