A South Carolina native, Benjamin earned his Master of Science in Nursing from South University in Georgia and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Francis Marion University. Benjamin said he is looking forward to treating Cardiology patients.
“It is very uncommon to find a disease process that does not affect the cardiac system, directly or indirectly. Cardiology can be applied to all elements of the patient’s lifestyle,” he said. “I have always been fascinated with the heart and with a focus in Cardiology, I will be able to give patients a more in-depth perspective of how their lifestyle choices impact their heart.”
Inspired to Provide Compassionate Heart Care
Benjamin described his philosophy of care as patient-centered and compassionate. He was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after his mother was hurt in a car accident.
“She was involved in a car accident that left her with spinal fractures and unable to be independent for about 3 to 6 months. Caring for her during this time made me realize the amount of joy that I felt from helping others,” Benjamin said. “She’s a registered nurse, and it felt great to follow in her footsteps. She’s my true inspiration.”
Outside of work, Benjamin owns and operates a dance studio in Bennettsville, South Carolina.
“My wife helps me teach and my son participates in the classes, so I get to spend a lot of time with them as well,” he said. “When I’m not teaching dance, I am usually fishing, watching my son play baseball or playing softball. We are an active family.”
