CARE-Net & CARE Funds

Personalized help from a “buddy” who knows.  

CARE-Net is a unique “buddy system” that matches trained volunteers with patients who need a sympathetic ear, a caring heart or a helping hand as they interact with the health care system.

Dealing with a serious disease or major surgery can be one of the loneliest times of your life.  Family and friends can help, but sometimes you need to talk with someone who has faced what you’re facing, and felt what you’re feeling.

CARE-Net volunteers provide advocacy to patients and families through calls, letters and visits.  They also help connect patients with necessary resources and, when needed, facilitate communication with medical providers. Many of these volunteers are survivors of cancer or other serious illnesses so they bring a special understanding to their role.

Direct your support to the fund of your choice.  

The Foundation of FirstHealth established the CARE Funds as a way for donors with a special interest in or personal connection to a particular disease or health service to direct financial gifts to those areas. There are CARE Funds for: cancer, heart, children’s services, emergency services, neurosciences, arthritis/orthopaedics and behavioral services.

Clara’s House is home to the Cancer CARE Fund.  This fund supports the individual needs of patients, including transportation, medication assistance and other related expenses.  They also support health education and encourage research and philanthropic support.
