PINEHURST—FirstHealth of the Carolinas is pleased to announce the addition of Emily Scudder, PA-C, to its interventional pain care team in Pinehurst.
About Emily Scudder, PA-C
Scudder received her Master of Science in physician assistant studies from Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, Calif. Prior to this, she earned her Bachelor of Science in exercise science from The Metropolitan State University of Denver.
She decided to go into the medical field because she wanted to make a purposeful impact in people's lives.
“I’ve always wanted to work in a field where I could help people in a meaningful way,” she said. “Medicine combines problem-solving with the opportunity to support patients during difficult times. I’ve developed a strong interest in pain management because helping patients regain function and improve their quality of life can make such a meaningful difference in their day-to-day lives.”
Experience in Interventional Pain Management
Before joining FirstHealth, she worked as a physician assistant at River City Pain Management in San Antonio, Texas, where she managed pain protocols, prescribed and titrated pain medications based on patient response, and performed interventional pain procedures, including joint and trigger-point injections.
“I am excited to join FirstHealth’s pain care team in Pinehurst,” Scudder said. “I was drawn to FirstHealth because of its strong focus on patient care and the opportunity to be part of a collaborative team helping patients manage chronic pain. I’m looking forward to building relationships with patients, developing strong rapport and helping them find treatment plans that improve their daily function and overall quality of life.”
Outside of work, Scudder enjoys spending time with her family, working on home design and DIY projects, exploring the outdoors, going to local breweries and cooking. Her family has been enjoying getting to know the Pinehurst and Southern Pines area.
