SANFORD, N.C. – FirstHealth of the Carolinas is pleased to welcome Lakshmi Madduru, M.D., to the care team at our primary care location in Sanford.
About Dr. Lakshmi Madduru
Dr. Madduru earned her Medical Degree from Siddhartha Medical College in India before completing a family medicine residency at UPMC McKeesport. She also completed a geriatric fellowship at UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside.
Nearly 20 Years of Primary Care Experience
Dr. Madduru has nearly two decades of patient care experience and said she’s excited to join the team in Lee County.
“I love primary care because it allows me to care for patients while forming lasting relationships with them and their families,” she said.
“Human life is precious, and it can be lived to its fullest potential through strategic prevention. My philosophy of care focuses on empowering patients of all ages to achieve optimal health and well-being.”
Dr. Madduru said both curiosity and personal experiences inspired her decision to pursue a career in medicine.
“I was always fascinated by the complexity of the human body and how it functions. Watching my grandfather face health challenges and watching him recover from the medical care received from my uncle profoundly impacted me,” she said.
“One of my defining moments came in school when I saw a real human heart at a medical exhibition. It was an experience that solidified my decision to pursue medicine.”
Outside of work, Dr. Madduru said she enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, hiking and spending time with her family.
