FirstHealth Implements Visitor Restrictions to Combat Rising Flu Cases

PINEHURST, N.C. – Due to the increasing number of flu cases and other respiratory illnesses in our region and within FirstHealth hospitals, visitor restrictions are being implemented to protect the health and safety of our patients, staff and community.

Effective Jan. 8, 2025:

  • Visitors are limited to immediate family members only.
  • Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to visit the hospital.
  • Anyone who is feeling unwell should avoid visiting the hospital.

Visitor restrictions apply at all FirstHealth hospitals; Moore Regional, Montgomery Memorial, MRH-Richmond and MRH-Hoke. Patients are asked to adhere to the restrictions when visiting any area of the hospital including rehabilitation and outpatient clinics.

“These measures have been implemented as a precaution to limit the spread of flu during a particularly active season,” said Jayne Lee, MPH, BSN, R.N., director of infection control and patient safety. “We are committed to safeguarding the well-being of everyone in our care.”

FirstHealth urges everyone to take steps to stay healthy during flu season:

  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick to prevent spreading illness to others.
  • Consider getting a flu vaccine if you haven’t already.

The visitor restrictions will remain in place until flu activity subsides. Updates will be shared as they become available.
