FirstHealth Hospice Achieves Accreditation with ACHC

FirstHealth Hospice HousePINEHURST, N.C. – FirstHealth Hospice announces achieving accreditation for the seventh time through the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for hospice services.

Accreditation is a process through which health care organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. Accreditation by ACHC reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.

FirstHealth Hospice is the only not-for-profit hospice agency in Moore County and most surrounding counties. FirstHealth Hospice provides in-home hospice care to people and their families in Moore, Hoke, Lee and Montgomery counties. It also serves portions of Chatham, Harnett and Richmond counties.

The FirstHealth Hospice House in West End is an 11-bed facility for hospice patients who need more medical comfort care than can be provided at home or whose caregivers need a brief respite. Grief counseling services are also available.

“Earning accreditation again with ACHC represents FirstHealth Hospice’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of end-of-life care,” said Tina Gibbs, LCSW, FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care Director. “Accreditation assures families their loved ones are receiving comprehensive care that addresses their physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs.”

FirstHealth Hospice’s initial accreditation was in 2007, and the agency has achieved successful reaccreditation every three years since. ACHC is a nonprofit organization standing as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986. ACHC is ISO 9001:2015 certified and has Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services-deeming authority for home health, hospice and durable medical equipment, prosthetic devices, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies.
