Hoke County Man Changes His Life at FirstHealth Fitness - Raeford

Michael Mollohan and Suzanne ManessRAEFORD, N.C. – Beginning a fitness journey is no easy task, but it makes a huge difference when you can work out in a supportive environment surrounded by people who have your best interests in mind.

Michael Mollohan knows this firsthand after joining FirstHealth Fitness – Raeford and changing his life. The Hoke County resident joined the Raeford center in October 2022 after deciding to pursue a healthier lifestyle.

“Prior to going to FirstHealth Fitness, I was out of shape and in poor health. I was 247 pounds, had high cholesterol and other issues including lower back pain, problems with post-COVID conditions and issues sleeping,” he said.

After months of dealing with post-COVID conditions, Mollohan joined the fitness center and began working with facility director and personal trainer Suzanne Maness.

“She was a huge help and inspiration. She took time to listen to my issues and goals, and we started slowly. Suzanne showed me several exercises and took the time to explain the importance of different types of exercise,” Mollohan said.

As he continued to feel better, Mollohan began taking group fitness classes, including Bootcamp, Kickboxing and indoor cycling. He even joined dance and Zumba classes.

“Michael has been an inspiration to me and others because he is always striving to do better and help others achieve their goals,” Maness said. “He is consistent and always participates in our challenges, has motivated others to join our group fitness classes and is a regular at our 5:30 p.m. classes.”

Mollohan said the group fitness environment and instructors have offered additional motivation during his journey.

“The help, motivation, and encouragement I have received since starting at FirstHealth Fitness Raeford has had a huge impact on my health,” he said.

Mollohan’s results speak volumes. He has lost more than 50 pounds, and his cholesterol is down. He is also walking more and said he continues to improve every day. He’s also added a new job to his schedule.

“Recently, we hired Michael as one of our group fitness instructors, and we are thrilled that he’s an even more critical member of our team,” Maness said.
