FirstHealth Fitness - Raeford Center Announces New Facility Director

Suzanne ManessRAEFORD, N.C. – FirstHealth Fitness - Raeford is pleased to announce the appointment of Suzanne Maness as the new facility director, succeeding Jodi Heimrich who will now lead FirstHealth Fitness facilities in Southern Pines and Sanford.

A Hoke County native and graduate of Hoke County High School, Maness holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from UNC-Pembroke. She is a certified personal trainer, group fitness and kickboxing instructor. Maness brings a wealth of experience and a passion for promoting overall health and well-being to her new role.

She’s previously served as a social worker, law enforcement officer, Spanish teacher and mental health educator.  Maness is the founder of the non-profit Called Into Action, Inc., which served at-risk youth in Hoke County.

An active member of FirstHealth Fitness-Raeford since 2016, Maness began her fitness career with the organization in 2019 serving as a group exercise instructor teaching bootcamp, kickboxing and strength training classes.

She most recently served as the exercise supervisor for Exercise is Medicine, a provider-referral program hosted by FirstHealth Fitness that allows individuals to meet with an exercise specialist to develop goals and receive an exercise prescription.

“As a mental health advocate and personal trainer, I am passionate about the interconnected well-being of both the mind and body,” said Maness. “My philosophy is simple: Mind to Muscle, Brain to Body. It underscores that a balanced approach is key to overall wellness.” 

In addition to exercising, Maness also enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach, playing tennis and dancing.
