Fayetteville, N.C. – John M. Ray, Jr., M.D., FAAFP, of Pinnacle Primary Care in Fayetteville, has joined FirstHealth of the Carolinas and FirstHealth Physician Group.
Dr. Ray, who is board certified, has served patients in Fayetteville for two decades and said he is thrilled to join FirstHealth’s care network.
“Our association with FirstHealth will allow our patients expanded access to comprehensive services. We are thrilled to join their care network,” Ray said. “We are committed to delivering high-quality primary care to all our patients, and we look forward to caring for our community in this new way.”
Ray earned his medical degree in 1999 from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee after completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology at North Carolina Central University in Durham. He is a graduate of E.E. Smith High School in Fayetteville.
After being closed to patients for the last two weeks for training on new billing, scheduling and medical records systems, the practice reopened July 15 as FirstHealth Family Medicine – Pinnacle.
The practice transitioned to FirstHealth’s Epic electronic health record, providing patients with access to an online patient portal through FirstHealth MyChart. MyChart allows patients the opportunity to manage appointments, review test results, communicate with their provider and even refill a prescription all from the convenience of a phone, tablet or computer.
Normal hours will be Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. to noon on Friday. To learn more about scheduling care, call (910) 483-6114.
According to Dan Barnes, D.O., president of the FirstHealth Physician Group, the practice is a welcome addition to the FirstHealth network.
“Dr. Ray and his team have diligently served patients in the Cumberland County community for many years, and we are thrilled to partner with them,” Barnes said.
