SANFORD, N.C.— Joseph Tozzi, M.D., and Kim Finlay-Tozzi, D.O., of Mid-Carolina Primary Care in Sanford will join FirstHealth of the Carolinas and FirstHealth Physician Group on Oct. 16, 2023.
Drs. Tozzi and Finlay-Tozzi have served patients in the Lee County community for nearly three decades and look forward to continuing to care for patients under a new affiliation with FirstHealth of the Carolinas.
“Our association with FirstHealth will allow our patients expanded access to comprehensive services that may not be available in our current location,” said Dr. Tozzi. “This partnership will also allow us to focus on our primary role, which is caring for our valued patients.”
Dr. Tozzi earned his medical degree from Universita Degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza in Rome. He went on to complete a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Dr. Finlay-Tozzi earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Mo. She completed an internal medicine residency and internship at Union Hospital in Union, New Jersey.
The office will close Oct. 16-27, 2023, for training on new billing, scheduling and medical records systems and will reopen in the same location as FirstHealth Internal Medicine-Sanford on Monday, Oct. 30. Office hours and phone numbers will remain the same.
The practice will transition to FirstHealth’s Epic electronic health record, providing patients with access to an online patient portal through FirstHealth MyChart. MyChart allows patients the opportunity to manage appointments, review test results, communicate with their provider and even refill a prescription all from the convenience of a phone, tablet or computer.
According to Dan Barnes, D.O., president of the FirstHealth Physician Group, the practice is a welcome addition to the FirstHealth network.
“Dr. Tozzi and Dr. Finlay-Tozzi have served the health care needs of the Lee County community for many years,” said Dr. Barnes. “We look forward to partnering with them to continue their longstanding tradition of providing high-quality, compassionate care.”
