Certified Physician Assistant Joins FirstHealth Family Medicine - Chatham

Roger Diaz, PA-CPITTSBORO, N.C. -- FirstHealth of the Carolinas is welcoming another new team member to our family medicine staff in Chatham County.

Roger Diaz, PA-C, is an experienced provider joining James Liffrig, M.D., and Claire Repine, D.O., to continue providing exceptional care to patients of all ages in Chatham County and neighboring communities.

Diaz has 14 years of patient care experience and serves in the North Carolina Army National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel. He earned his Master of Health Sciences Degree in 2009 from Duke University and received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Rutgers University.

Diaz said he is excited to work with Drs. Liffrig and Repine to improve the health and wellbeing of patients at the Pittsboro practice.

“I am attracted to family medicine because there are no boundaries. We develop close relationships with our patients and often can care for them from a very early age into adulthood,” Diaz said.

Diaz said his path to a career in medicine began in high school and continued when he joined the Army National Guard.

“I started my medical career as an EMT in high school and then became an Army medic. I worked with medical officers and felt this could be the next challenge for me to undertake,” he said. “I was very fortunate to attend the Duke University PA program, which helped created the physician assistant profession in the 1960s.”

Outside of work, Diaz said he enjoys rock climbing, teaching children Taekwondo and learning about analytics and programming.
